Kenshin got out of his car after he had parked it on the side of the road. As he got out he looked up at the mountain that led to Ichika's family shrine. It's hard to describe why but ever since the monster attack Kenshin has been receiving what he describes as flashes from the past. Since then he has been recording what he has seen to see if there is some kind of puzzle that needed solving. Then he kept on getting a feeling from the shrine, like its calling him. One way or another he's going to get to the bottom of this. He walked towards the mountain till he reaches the stairs that led to where the shrine is located. Gonegai Mountain "Come on Red, don't tell me you're time working for the stuffy Heroes Guild had gotten you soft" Carina teased while running backwards as she and The Traveler, whom we'll call Red for the duration of the story, raced up over ten thousand feet of stairs to reach the Jurai Dojo. Carina had parked her bike at the bottom of the mountain and assured Red that nobody would try to steal it. Otherwise they'd be in for quite a shock.
"You've never beaten me since you were a kid Chisana and you won't now." Red flexed then decided to make this race interesting, they have another 10,000 ft before they reach the dojo so it'll be interesting to see how much Chisana's stamina has improved. Red decided to speed up and before the young woman knew it he shot right past her.
She looked up in amazement, "Guess that training had paid off! I wasn't expecting that. But I wasn't expecting not to expect it so it doesn't count " She grinned, "You got yourself a race, Big Bro"
With a dash she took off after him.
Kenshin blinked and rubs his eyes. Rin silently looked up in amazement. Remembering the fond memories of when Hawk, Hiro, Chidori, Toki, and herself would race up this mountain. To this day nobody outside of the participants knew who won and Rin loved keeping it all hush hush. "Really? Who won?" Kenshin asked, while blinking a few times. She smiled then focused her attention towards her dad when she notice he seemed distracted over something. "Don't worry, just something about this place feels familiar" Kenshin commented Rin raised an eyebrow. "Still processing it myself" Kenshin joked It has been some time since the attack on her sister and Rin still shows no sign of regaining her voice from the attack. While he'd notice some signs of Rin being her classic self he wonders if she'd be in full recovery. It's still nice to see that his daughter is smiling again so he counts that as progress. So her therapist have taught Rin how to use sign language as a form of communication. Note: Connecting the Ichika shrine to the dojo in Yokai Knight up in here! This will also provide some nice interactions between Kenshin, Rin, and Nana. And yeah the incident between Hawk and Johnny really affected Rin in a bad way. Ichika Yasu was in the middle of meditating in her room when she felt a familiar presence at the bottom of the stairs and she slowly exhaled to lower herself down to the floor from three or so feet she'd been levitating above it and she awoke from her meditation to stand up again, stretched and walked out of the shrine to greet her visitors. Overall it had been an exciting time in their lives. Sure, the monster attack was unfortunate, very unfortunate, far too many innocents had been hurt by that thing, but it was nice to finally see the power of the artifact unleashed. After all the generations it had been in their family it was finally freed and its power was unleashed to bring light and justice to the world! To be honest, Yasu had always assumed it would be either Hiro or Toki who would free it from the stone. Little Miss Sukeban was not quite who she expected but fate was funny like that. Kami and The Gods must have quite the intricate plan in mind. She arrived at the top of the stairs and smiled down at Ken and Rin climbing them. "Long time no see, Kenny."

"You're looking goood as always, Miss Ichika." He complimented. "Oh please Kenny, we've known each other for years, call me Yasu." She chuckled. "Oh and Little Rin too! How have you been my old friends?" "Hello." Rin greeted politely as they bowed. "I'm alright but I'm still reeling over the attack on our city." He admitted. "Yeah this has been a...strange and scary past couple of nights." Rin confessed. "And you have come here to clear your minds and your hearts. Please come on in. My door is always open for company. Come, come, come, don't be shy. I'll put on some tea." Yasu greeted them.

The mere mention of tea caused Rin's expression to brighten. Before Kenshin could notice Rin made a mad dash inside the temple, no doubt wanting to help the old lady prepare the tea.
"Mention tea and she springs to life" Kenshin chuckled as he walked with Miss Ichika
"How is she holding up?"
Kenshin paused at that question, while there have been traces of the Rin he knows he can still sense that her inner spirit remains broken beyond repair. "She...has her good days and bad days. I feel like we are climbing a really tall mountain, while I'm always there to help her should she slip and fall I feel like...."
He stopped, closed his eyes, and take a deep breath. "As a Cop, I'm trained to not dwell on what-if scenarios when situations like what happened occur. But it's different when it hits close to home. And how can I help someone when I'm trying to keep it together myself?"

You are as human as everyone else." Yasu reminded him. "You have plenty of resources available to you. Recovering from a nightmare like the one you both experienced will take time but it is possible. Speaking with therapists is a natural solution of course but so is surrounding her with love and affection. But it is also important that you take time for yourself to experience the same. Spend time with the people around you and things that bring you joy. With the people who bring you the most joy in the world. Open your heart to the joys of the world and the light will come again. You are a strong man Kenny raising two beautiful strong willed girls. It will take time but one day you will rise above what has happened to you. Hawk will return and your family will be complete again."

Given the extent of her injuries the mere fact that she's still alive at all just showcase how much will she had. "Where would I be without you GranGran" "Probably drowning your sorrows somewhere" Kenshin scoffed. "That's beneath me and you know it. I'd probably use my job as a means of distraction" "Till Maki talks some sense into you" Yasu noted "True true" "Then you'd eventually find balance. Thus once again bringing your path in full circle." Yasu pats him on the back and the two entered the temple.

"I appreciate the compliments dear but I'm just an old woman with some life experiences and with experience comes wisdom." She chuckled. "Oh the stories I could tell you about my own daughter." " The Archaeologist right?" "That's her. My little Fujiko She was obsessed with solving the mystery of the artifact and she was convinced the answers about it were out there somewhere and if she could have an adventure, help people and find other lost artifacts in the process? All the better." Rin paused and put a finger to her lips and a hand on her hips before she smiled and signed to them. 'Have you told her about Chidori pulling the wand from the rock?' She questioned while stifling a laugh as if even she couldn't believe it. "Oh my sweet summer child. Not yet. Word travels fast but apparently not that fast. Don't you worry your pretty little head though darling. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." She laughed a little. "Come now, lets get that tea ready darling."
