Author's Note: This take place some time during the Goddess Arc. I wanted to explore the different motivations between Johnny from an alternate universe and Suko and them bonding through finding redemption. Johnny sighed as he stepped out of the bathroom. He finished taking a hot shower and just changed into some PJ's. As he walked around his bed chambers every move he made felt like he's sinking in quicksand. There's a small part of him that hoped he'd just sink in and never get out. A more deserving fate. *SLAP* He slapped himself in an attempt to get him to pull himself together. He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths and took this moment to observe his surroundings. He got to hand it to the Battosais. The interior of the building has a blend of feudal japan throwback mixed with some smart A.I technology. And a few mystical warding's. After a team up mission with Chidori he needed some time to himself while Chidori went with her friends to hang out. With them gone it gives him time to reflect. He opens the cabinet and pulls out a Paul McCartney record of "Live And Let Die" and plays it on a vintage record player. He goes over to the massive bed and lays down. Just stares up at the ceiling. 'When you were young And your heart was an open book You used to say live and let live
But if this ever changin' world In which we live in Makes you give in and cry Say live and let die Live and let die Yeah live and let die Live and let die'Back in the day the old him would like to play one of his favorite tunes before he kills his victims. His reason would be that he likes to hear the music dance with the screams his victims would cry out. His hand clutched his chest as it felt like it is about to cave in. Johnny can hear the screams, the one that stood out the most was the youngest of the bunch. She had a bright future ahead of her before he snuffed it out.
He shuts his eyes as tears start to fall. "How much blood do I have to bath in, to get clean?"
"You too?"
He instantly wiped his eyes and sat up to see Suko standing near the record player, checking out the record he selected. "Paul McCartney eh? Good taste"
"Thanks. How long were you standing there BTW?"

"Thanks. How long were you standing there BTW?" "Since you got dressed." She shrugged. "Don't let it get to you. I've been doing it to people for years." "Well for someone without shapeshifting you did a good job." He complimented. "Thanks. I'm still getting used to the whole Cyborg deal but at least I've still got my stealth skills." "Right. I heard you were ripped apart on that island." Johnny said while putting a record on. "The island, the assholes and those...things on it did all of that. Then the Paladins put me back together." She rubbed her head. "I don't think the old me would've felt guilt over everything she'd done." "Empathy, regret and guilt are...certainly difficult to cope with. Especially when you've done the things we have." He agreed and walked over to the table. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Suko pondered that question for a moment. She never really talked to anyone here. Outside of perhaps the witch maids or that weird little vampire girl who'd usually tagalong with Darius. And when she does she'd much rather not talk about her victims. Otherwise she'd probably resort to what Johnny was doing before she got here. She shook her head, "Not at the moment. Someday I will but not now. I don't even talk about it to a therapist that Paladin would assign me"
"Really? How was yours"
"She was patient. She never pressed nor did she ever judge"
Johnny nods. "Ah. The old getting their patients out of their shell so they can spill their deep traumatic secrets trick"
Suko studied Johnny. "Did yours do that"
Johnny scoffed. "Not my old one. My old one was, pardon the phrase, quite a bitch"
"OK the old me would've done some research to see if she had any love ones. If so then that is when I'd start having some fun."
"Well. I got the last word in the end. The best thing about shapeshifting is I can do more than just turn into people. Lets just say the shit I can do will make Pennywise from that movie look like a complete pussy"
Suko's intrigue peaked. "So, what happened to her?"
"To be blunt. By the time I was done she lost all control of her bodily functions"

I've seen it happen before you know. With some of my own victims. Turns out its rather hard to keep yourself together when you're getting diced up." "Don't I know it. But if you'll indulge me, making them perform that trick through simple psychology and shapeshifting is honestly just way more fun." "Heh, I can only imagine how that must feel." "Like a kid at Christmas." He summarized with a proud smile. The two shared another laugh together before he continued. "So, Miss Suko, you seem to be all about the kill, am I correct in that assumption?" "You are correct in that assumption. I see it as an artform. Well, I suppose it's more appropriate to say that, I saw it an artform. Past tense."

"......Uh...huh" Johnny said while he surveyed her then corrected himself. She had no reason to lie to him about her motivations, yet still...is it possible he may have just found a kindred spirit?
"What?"
"Oh nothing its just. You know how in the movies the hero and villain would have a 'Not so different' moment between one another?"
Suko nods, then her eyes widened. She didn't even need to ask.
"Yeah. Well outside of the fact that we are far from heroic. You see, I never hated my victims. It was always about the pain and the pleasure. To me the victims were like living canvas that I wanted to create a masterpiece from"

She decided not to go into detail about Chinatsu and the assholes on the island and just focus on the topic at hand. "None of my victims were personal. I would honestly just choose them at random, stalk them, plot out their murder and then carry it out in a stylish flawless manner." She summarized. "Collapsing the trachea was imperative of course. Some like the screaming but honestly it's just too much of a risk. You have to shut them up first before you can have your fun." She giggled a bit. "Does that make me a bad person?" "Well it's tactical I'll give you that much." He agreed. "But you get my point right? None of our murders were personal right?" Suko considered mentioning how much time she took killing the island prison warden but decided that was a topic for another time. "Correct. It was about satisfying our own urges and vices and practicing our personal artform." Agent Emily Granger sipped her coffee while she watched the two of them on the cameras. "This is gold. Better than any interrogation."

The mere sight of a perp gradually losing all that bravado before they're reduced to blubbering wrecks is better than anything streamed on the internet" Seth, the mysterious and deadly bio-droid commented while saving the whole conversation on his memory file. "No argument there." Dr. Emily Granger replied while sitting her coffee mug on the aluminum desk. "Something I wonder though? Could we really count on any of them?" "They both see the bigger picture of this. Plus Suko's own personal experience on that Island has inspired her in seeing the fact that there are worse people out there. Then Johnny has seen these alien's personally so his knowledge would prove to be beneficial." "No doubt about that but they are a little *makes a crazy gesture*" "If it ever comes to a point where a difficult choice must be made and the heroes aren't willing to commit to it then they're the ones to count on. Crazy can be beneficial as long as we can provide them a target to focus on" Emily noted. Seth thought about that for a moment then responds, "Permission to speak freely Doc?" "That has never stopped you in doing so before" "Noted. Still. Most of the people in Paladin would consider you crazier than the people you've counselled." Emily glanced at Seth. "What do you think?" "Personally. You're aware of what you're doing. So I wouldn't want to be the person that gets on your shit list"

She joked. "Besides which, we've got Suko on a leash and we injected tracker nanites into Johnny just to be safe. We'll be able to keep an eye on and track both of them wherever they go." "Rather ruthless but I can't blame you for taking precautions." Seth agreed. "Out of curiosity, what kind of enhancements did you give Suko anyway?" "Do you really want to know?" "Go right ahead." Emily turned back to the monitors and typed a few buttons and one of them changed to showing a readout of her blueprints. "You must understand, Seth. Her body was barely holding itself together when we found her. The medical bay on the ship was the only reason she made it back to the labs to be put back together. While doing so we made sure her body was refined and improved enough to be useful in combat against The Feonds while further ensuring that we would still be able to keep an eye on her." Seth crossed his arms while looking over the blueprints. "Are these even legal?" "Government Secrets." Emily summarized. "She can't shapeshift like Johnny of course but her own stealth and infiltration skills shouldn't be underestimated. We can make exceptional use of their own respective skills. Provided further training and therapy."

"If you don't mind me asking. Outside of your M.O. of killing. Just what is your situation? Bad home life or something like that" Suko asked Johnny as the two set up a makeshift mini-bar near the record player. Suko poured a bottle of Vampire Merlot that she stashed after scavenging from the Battosai's Wine Rooms. Johnny shook his head while providing a couple of plastic cups for the two, "Nah. To be honest, I've been playing roles of different people for so long that I barely remember what my origin story was like. How about you?"

"My family was perfectly normal. Well off, sure, but normal. Kind of boring really. I'm sorry if you were anticipating some great revelation or some crybaby Freudian excuse but there isn't much to tell." Suko sipped some of the wine and then set her glass down before continuing. "Mother did say once that mental illness apparently ran in our family but it must have skipped her." She gave a light shrug of her shoulders. "Hell, even my first kill was indirect. There was a rope, see? It was over a creek and everyone liked to swing on it while playing games. So, naturally, I got the brilliant idea in my head of moving this pointy little rock I found into the middle of it and slowly sawing away at the rope over the course of a couple days. Slowly, slowly, whittling away it, until it couldn't take the weight anymore." She looked down at her drink. "Kotobuki Teru was his name. He was fifteen years old. A local babysitter. An avid cyclist. An honor roll student who would go out of his way to make people smile every day of his life. He died when the rope snapped and he hit his head on the rock and it pierced his skull." Suko closed her eyes. "I was there. I was right there with everyone else when it happened and nobody suspected me. Everyone thought it was an accident. Can you fucking believe that?" She asked Johnny. She began to laugh. "I remember. I remember everyone screaming. They screamed and screamed and screamed and cried and the blood poured down the creek and stared it all red and...I...I..." She nearly fell onto the table and choked back her sobs. "I just watched. I watched it and I smiled. It was bliss. Absolute and total pleasure. God That's who I was. Who I am. That's the monster that they locked up." Suko took a moment to compose herself before downing some more of her glass. "That's who I was. A monster who played innocent and cried crocodile tears over the indirect murder of a completely innocent person...then went on to murder one hundred forty-seven more." Suko finally looked back up to Johnny. "You want to know the real truth Johnny? The truth is: I deserved all that shit I went through on that island."

Viewing this Emily shuts the monitor off. "Why did you do that? It was getting interesting" Seth protested "Even monsters deserve a moment of privacy, Seth. Well, fifteen minutes worth at least" Emily responds

She'd never felt guilt before. She didn't know what to do! She didn't know what to say! Everything she'd done, the lies, the cheating, the deception, the murders, it all came crashing back down on her at once and she felt all of it weighing her down. She felt her mind shattering as anchors dragged her down into the depths of despair. She collapsed and wrapped around him and began to quietly sob. No matter how much she tried to hold them off they poured down her face like a broken dam as the guilt of her atrocities, the scale of what she'd done, washed over her like a tidal wave. "Thank you."

"Anytime" He whispers to her, pushing the mental pain down as it intensifies. Just so he could give her a few moments till she calmed down. Under normal circumstances he would've stealthfully put a blade in her stomach. A tactic that isn't completely foreign to him. Yet he opt for an act of humanity. No matter how much the bastards above would take that from him. He gently lets her go so that he can turn around. He grabbed a cloth to wipe the blood that ran down his nose.

"Heh, you're kinder than you think." Seth complimented. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm a total sweetheart." She joked. "It's nice to see the two of them are bonding though. In a weird way I'm actually kind of happy for them. This is what they both needed. Someone who can really understand them." Suko hesitantly reached up to his back. Her arms were trembling. Her whole body was shaking. She didn't know what to do. She'd never let it all out like this. She'd never expressed herself like this. "Thank you." "Anytime" He whispers to her, pushing the mental pain down as it intensifies. Suko backed away and composed herself. She fixed her hair and rubbed her face and wiped her eyes. She cleared her throat and then poured herself another glass. (What the hell just came over me? Seriously, where did all of that come from? The old me would never have felt even the faintest flicker of emotion over her kills. Nothing but glee and triumph. So why did I break down so hard just now? I nearly fell onto the floor and cried like a child. Is this...is this the new me? Who I am now? It's like I'm a completely different person but I still remember who I was. What I did. The things I did to those people throughout my entire life. I'm a Monster. Was a Monster? Ugh. Goddammit this is confusing!) She was about to speak up to Johnny when her cybernetically enhanced senses picked up the scent of blood. She knew it well. All too well. Suko lowered her glass and leaned over to him again. "You okay?"

"Allies of this Goddess character perhaps" "Maybe" Johnny walked over and puts the cloth in the laundry hamper. "I cant say they're like the Feonds. From what my memory depicts they're not the sort that believe in her cause. More like whatever the price suits them" Suko scoffed, "So this cosmic bitch has mercenaries now?"

Johnny shrugged and returned to his drink. "Maybe. Unless we can find them there's no way to really tell. Even then there's the matter of making the Spacers tell us." "It's strange. The old me would have suggested torture but...yeah. Not so much anymore. Still, the Paladins do have psionics here. If they can put my mind back together then I'm sure they can find whatever hidden memories about your attack you've repressed." She offered.

Johnny appeared thoughtful. Of both the question and something else that had been plaguing his mind ever since he met Suko and interacted with her. "Say Suko"
"Yes?"
"There's one thing I never could grasp. That whole time you've been killing people and no one, not even Hiro found out about it? Isn't she supposed to be science prodigy levels of smart?"
Suko thought back, there are things about her past that she's not proud of but she never knew the Kurosawas personally. She only met Hiro that one time when she picked Chidori up from work and, from what she sensed, there's more to her than her amazonian appearance. "To be fair. This was long before she fully dedicated herself into the Guardian role. And even then I was really careful not to get caught. You see the comics and mangas always make it so obvious for the heroes to catch the villain but real monsters like me had to put in a lot of work to not get within a hero's radar. Let alone encounter one. You have no idea how much I had to try and juggle that and operating a restaurant."
"That stressful"
"One time I had to take a me day. Got to have a focused mind to do what I do. Heck, even Chidori was just plain lucky when she found out. By the time she did, she barely made it out with her life"
Johnny nodded, "What if Hiro found out?"
Suko shrugged. "Worst case scenario I'd just target a member of her family to make a point. Something tells me Hana would hurt the most"
Johnny tensed at that, reflecting to that one particular crime he committed in his dimension. "Yeah"
