It has been about a few months since the alien invasion that occurred about a few months ago. Most of the streets had reopened yet there are still a few buildings that are either in reconstruction or soon to be. Kenshiro Kusanagi stood on the roof of the former InssMouth Plaza now the premier HQ of his very own superhero agency.. His eyes observed the various cars and citizens passing by. 'You know, all those times I've always wondered. What goes through your head when you'd watch over the city?' Kenshiro ask but in an
elven language.
Henry Kusanagi, his mentor/father by adoption came to an understanding realization regarding the conversation then replied in kind. 'I sometimes wonder what the people of below could be thinking'
Ken snickered, 'Given what we used to deal with back in Haven, did you really want to know?'
'Touché. Would still be interesting though.' Henry looked around, the two are dressed in attire that is appropriate for a rather cold and windy city. His gaze pointed upward, 'This how you guys say hello?'
Kenshiro looked across from him at the tower known as the Skarsgard Incorporated building where Elizabeth Skarsgard, dressed in her custom mate business suit that undoubtedly cost more than a vehicle that an average everyman normally drives, looks down at the two gentlemen while taking a sip of her mourning tea.
'She's been like this ever since I've stepped in the building'
'You mean since you've won the bidding war over the place?'
Kenshiro rolled his eyes. 'It wasn't much of a bidding war, Dad. I just provided an offer I thought was reasonable and the handler of the place took it'
Henry glanced up and waved at Ms.Skarsgard. He now fully understands their conversation. 'How do you want to play this'
'I'm still in the getting settled phase. I'd like to have one year in me without an enemy.'
'I'd like that for you too. It's not always the case when it comes to us'
Ken shrugs, 'Who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky. I'll signal you to give you the opportunity to do your vanishing act'
'You know I don't do that when I'm out of uniform. Besides, I won't go till I give you some advice'
'What's that?'
'The city can be a very complicated individual. Whatever rules you think you'd come to understand will eventually change. And there will be moments when the stress of protecting it will consume you. Adapt to it and trust on your instincts and closest allies to help you overcome the darkness that lurks within it'
Ken's eyes widened.
Henry tilts his head. 'What?'
'So....Mr. Lone Wolf actually says trust in your friends' Kenshiro grinned
'Closest allies' Henry corrected
'Yeah sure. Don't worry, I won't tell a soul'
Henry scoffed
'Seriously dad. It's something I will take to heart'
Henry smiled at his son, he turned and walked away. In mid walk he stopped to look back at Kenshiro, 'You know? The offer for joining The Pantheon still stands'
Ken turned to him, 'That is what you guys are called?'
Henry shrugs, 'The social media has dubbed our group "Modern Gods" so we unanimously agreed to roll with it.'
'Ah. Still....Put me in the maybe category. I still need to figure my place among the community' As Ken was saying that his eyes never left his dad's sight. Henry just grinned at him in an expression that reads ''Nice Try'' then turned to walk away.
(Heh. Someday dad.) Kenshiro turned back and continued to observe the city, contemplating on the advice his father give him. His gaze shifted upward to his neighbor across the street. Elizabeth observed him for a moment, for what seems pretty rare for Ken, she smiled at him and raised her coffee mug.
Kenshiro nods then turned to make his way back inside the building.
