Martha Kent's humming filled the kitchen with a wonderful soothing sound like church hymns more beautiful than the softest of singers as she finished putting the finishing touches on her famous Kent Family Recipe Soufflé Omelets. She made three. One for her, one for Johnathan and one for her special little man Clark.
"Annnd done! Perfect! A special breakfast for my special boy's first day at Smallville High!" She did a little dance as she carried the plates on one arm over to the table and she casually placed them all down on the table. "Breeaaaakfaaaast! Come and get it boys!"
A brown haired young man was currently perched on the roof of the Kent Farm with his legs dangling over the edge as he watched the morning Sun come up over the horizon. He closed his blue eyes and sighed with relief as he felt the golden light and warmth of the Sun wash over the Kent Farm. He felt his body take it in, literally, it was like he was absorbing it. He felt so much stronger when he was in the Sunlight. It was the perfect wake up call for him. No matter how much time he spent studying and working on homework the previous night he just had to step out into the Sun the next morning and he would be completely recharged. Just like plugging in a computer. He would go from drained to a hundred again in no time at all!
The shirtless young man blissfully bathed in the Sun's glowing light until he heard his mother calling to him. "Breakfast time!" He hopped off the roof and dropped to the ground below while putting on his bright red t-shirt and landing on the ground without a problem. He adjusted his blue jeans and made sure his shoes were on tight before he took a light jog across the farm, a cruising one hundred twenty miles per hour, that took him from in front of the barn to the front of his house near instantly! Then he slowed back down and strolled inside where his parents were already sitting down at the table waiting for him.
"Morning, Son! How are you feeling today? Are you nervous at all?" Jonathan asked him.
"Feeling great and maybe just a tad. Oh that looks awesome, mom! Is that a Soufflé?" He asked while wiping his shoes on the mat and then walking into the kitchen and reaching down to pet Shelby the super happy family terrier doggy. "Ohhh yesh it is, yesh it is, Shelby, it's a Soufflé isn't it?" He asked as the dog rubbed against him. Clark laughed and sat down to eat.
"That's right! To be more specific it's a Soufflé' Omelet. A special breakfast to celebrate your first day at Smallville High! I just know you're going to make us proud, Clark. Go ahead. Give it a try."
Clark did as she asked and cut a piece off and tasted it, chewed and swallowed. "Oh man! This is amazing! It's so light and fluffy almost like a pancake but it's made of eggs with tomato sauce! Mom, this is incredible!"
"It's like eating a bouncy cloud, right?" Jonathan laughed. "This is your mom's specialty, son."
"Can you teach me how to make these, next time?" Clark asked.
"I'd love to!"
"Great. Thanks mom because these are amazing."
After enjoying breakfast together they worked together to wash their dishes.
Clark returned upstairs to brush his teeth again before returning to his room, hopping out the window again and meeting his dad.
"Alright son, want me to walk with you to the stop?"
"Sure."
"Great." Jonathan patted his son on the back as they walked. "Now listen Clark, I want you to have a lot of fun at school today. Meet new people, make new friends, have fun, all that jazz. But remember. No fighting. If anyone does try to mess with you, just ignore them and walk away. You're too strong for them and they can't hurt you anyway. So just ignore them and brush them off."
"And restrain myself in gym class and don't join teams. I know." Clark replied.
"I know it sounds harsh but we're just being safe here. Both to protect your secret and to protect others. We know you're a good kid Clark, you always will be, but you're so strong that you could potentially seriously hurt someone without really meaning to. Especially with your powers still developing. Maybe when you're older and you've completely figured them out, then you can try for serious sports or something like that, but right now, it's for the best that we keep them secret. Okay?"
"Okay, yeah, that's fair." Clark agreed.
"Good man. Come here."
Jonathan and Clark hugged and then resumed their walk to the bus stop.
