What Is Ex-Beings?Imagine a world like ours yet with a few differences, the major difference is that super powered beings exist. This is the world of Ex-Beings.
It isn't recorded exactly when did people start having super powers but the only thing they do know is that one day they wake up and discovered they have powers that defies the laws of physics and reality. Through time they're described as The Awakened.
To further explain what you could be expecting regarding the Ex-Beings verse I'm going to do a Marvel & DC comparison. The Paragons verse could be the closest you'd get as a superhero world inspired by the DCU. With the superheroes of that universe being considered celebrities by some and Modern Gods to others. With Ex-Beings it explores the superhero genre of a more grounded and human level like the Marvel Netflix shows or the first season of Heroes. Where you don't have that many costumed heroes as the world is still trying to adjust to the idea of super individuals existing.
Despite this its not trying to provide a cynical take on the genre. More like reconstructing it and showcase how introducing superheroes in the Modern Age could really work.

Thank you very much for the summation and explanation of the series! Superhumans are a brand new thing in this world. So there aren't ancient conspiracies, cults or giant corporations built around them. They're new to the world and everyone has to adjust. While there's going to be all sorts of people in the series, powered and otherwise, the series is ultimately aimed at being more on the optimistic side of things. There will be serious moments in the series but we're not planning to go grimderp anytime soon. People can be, and are, kind. So why wouldn't someone with incredible abilities be kind too?
