Not since Berserk and Kenshin have I ever come across a fantasy anime that is, in my humble opinion, pretty damn good. Yeah, I've managed to breakdown and watch the entire first season of the anime and I like what I've seen.
The series, to me, has a Supernatural vibe. Especially with the bond between two siblings and they go out hunting monsters. I also like how the show isn't afraid to get real because, in the first episode alone, shit got pretty damn real. You really get to empathize with the characters during their journey and the series spends enough time to make you want to root for the main characters.
My one drawback is something I've find a pet peeve in modern anime. Forced sympathy on anime villains who don't deserve it. You see a villain commit vile acts then a sad backstory is introduced so that the audience could feel sorry for the villain when they meet their demise. For fucks sake let the villains be villains!
Outside of that, this is pretty refreshing. An ACTUAL fantasy series that isn't ruined by Isekai BS.

Especially with all the crazy sword styles and eccentric characters. Regarding the Demons, yeah, it can get a bit old, but the way I viewed it, it's them remembering who they used to be as they're dying. Sort of like their lives flashing before their eyes, so there can be some sympathy there, but sometimes, like in Rui's case, it gets to be a bit much.
