"When pushed, killing is just as easy as breathing" -John RamboPrologueThe Yokai Knight
Our story begins with a man walking down a long bridge, he is dressed in a black kimono and dark gray pants. The rain pours down heavily, but he acts unfazed by the cruel conditions mother nature provided him. The fact that the straw hat he's wearing shields him from the rain a bit helps a little.
He's determined to reach his destination and it'll take no hostile weather to prevent him from completing his journey. Not even a trio of unwelcome individuals he's encountering at this very moment. One of them, the tall, broad-shouldered, muscle one twirled his battle-ax stands in the middle of the other two individuals. The one on the left is average size and lanky holding a sai while the other individual on the right is sporting a pair of spiked brass knuckles. The Traveler just stoically gazes at the trio as they're approaching him, they don't look like they are residents of the city. If he had to take a wild guess he'd assume they're bandits.
"Heh," The leader wielding the battle-ax stroked his beard, "Whatever reason you have coming here is all for nothing."
"Don't push it; you, gentlemen, only have one life. I'd cherish it as long as possible" The Traveler placed his hand on the handle of his sword while approaching the men.
"The one thing we'll cherish is that sweet ass bounty we'll collect. And that sword in your possession" The bandit with the Sais declared
The mysterious swordsman glared through his shades. Not of hatred, because that would imply that he’d find the bandits he encountered worth enough value to spark such an emotion.
There was nothing behind his gaze, all he sees are obstacles blocking his destination. "If you want to meet Lady Death that badly, then I'll gladly oblige"
The three rushed at The Traveler, blood rushing through their veins, adrenaline going 100mph. The Traveler however is perfectly calm, undisturbed by the men's advances. And then... One strike was all it took; The Traveler drew out his sword and slashed upward, he could hear the tip of the blade piercing the one holding the Brass Knuckles skin. He stepped to the side to cut the Sai Wielding Bandit's throat, he ducked an attack from the taller individual. Just as the man stumbled forward The Traveler took his sword and stabbed him in the back, the sword went right through the leader's heart.
The Traveler drew out his sword and wiped it clean with his cloth. He continues his journey, ignoring the blood spewing from the fallen bandits as he puts both his sword up and tosses the cloth off the bridge. Those bandits weren't his concern, he has important matters to deal with.
As he does an Raven soars around the landscape like an avian about to reap the souls of the fallen. It's eyes gazed at the fallen bandits then at The Traveler before it flew away. Back to the city, unbothered by the weather's hostile environments, till it makes its destination at a clock tower where a Lady In Red awaits sitting at the window of the tower.
She was eerily beautiful but she kept the lower half of her face covered by her facemask. Her fire red hair with its blond streaks was pulled into a ponytail. She had a primarily black uniform complete with black boots laced with grey laces. She had long black gloves that covered her hands. Her pants were tied with a red sash belt. There was a handgun held in a holster on her side and two swords on her back.
Offering her arm the Raven lands on it, cawing at it's master.
"Ah. I see he hasn't lost a step since his ascension" Her own crimson eyes looked at the bird with glee while she stroked it. "You may not know it yet Raggedy Man but this is where your real journey begins."

Chapter I Bright Lights, Big City The rain beat down on the city streets like a Cherokee drum with no sign of relief in sight. The civilians of the nameless city just went about their usual routine while using their respective umbrellas to fend off the weather conditions as best as it could. Only the street lamps and various buildings from all shapes and sizes provided a source of light that they need to get to where they're going. The Traveler felt like he's a stranger in his own home, he knew that he had been away from his town for a good while but he'd never fathom that the town he once knew in his childhood grew into a busy metropolis with self driving automobiles and speeding hoverbikes. He closed his eyes and sniffed the air, smiling to himself when he picked up a whiff of cherry blossoms. As a child, just about a few miles south from the dojo he grew up in, there were a forest of cherry blossom trees and he'd always go there to climb the tallest tree he could find and enjoy the view of the dojo from afar. He wonders if that same tree is still around? Part of him wonders if anyone he knew from the dojo is around?

Don't worry though, the more things change, the more they'll stay the same. I appreciate the glimpse into his past and more into his character as well. Ken's a pretty fun character and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop further!

Note: Your eyes are not deceiving you True Believers. I did an name change with the web serial. The reason being is I'm looking at publishing this series one day and it would be hard getting an audience who'll just end up confusing my Kenshin of Battosai Kenshin. So I not only did a name change I went a Man With No Name scenario with the character too.

The cold winds pierce The Traveler's skin, while past experiences has taught him to remain resistant to the harsh weather environments it didn't stop him from taking a sharp breath. He calculated that he has about 30 miles to go till he reaches his dojo. The one thought that kept him going was that, plus Karo and his sensei. He scoffed as another memory popped in his head regarding a tagalong Chīsana Senshi. He even missed that little rascal. Him, Rana, Chisana, Leon, and Sing had a lot in common despite their different background; they each com from an environment where they've had to grow up really fast in order to survive and the methods that they had to do in order to survive wasn't a pleasant one. It wasn't till Sensei Akira took them into her dojo and gave them a home, which ended up turning their lives around. Now, at The Traveler's darkest hour, he seeks her guidance even more. "Need a ride somewhere, Stranger" The Traveler snapped out of his thoughts to see a young woman riding alongside him on a hoverbike. The engine supporting it was so silent that he didn't hear the bike approached him. The young lady in question had a dark complexion with short black hair. She wears a black cowboy hat with a black duster, gloves, and jeans. The Traveler didn't recognize her at first till the instant he notice a familiar grin that flashed a single sharp canine. "It would be rude of me to refuse a generous offer, even from you Chisana" The Traveler teased, for a moment the young woman scowled then smiled coyly at the older gentleman. "I'd be careful sir, those kind of remarks would get you left in the cold" The Traveler shrugs, "I've been through worse." The Traveler approached the young woman and hopped on the bike. He puts his bag in the back compartment then holds onto the rear portion of the hoverbike. "It's Carina, BTW" Carina kicked the engine into full gear "Chisana, it's a term of endearment" "Whatever you say, Red" Carina said and the hoverbike took off.

You've got the beginnings of an awesome character here and I'm loving what you're doing with him.

Richmond Jet Black cut through the air with his broadsword again and again while balancing on the poles with his blindfold on. He stepped from pole to pole silently while continuously slashing through the air to cut through the spheres being shot from around him. He didn't use his sight. He focused on his hearing and expanding his aura outward like a radar. Aura protects and strengthens the simple hunter, but that's not all. Aura can also amplify the senses and the brain to extremes by controlling and directing its aura to its senses and brain. This is a supportive technique used only by huntsmen and huntress who has master their aura because this technique is very dangerous. This technique is dangerous because it involves various body organs. If someone inexperienced used this technique, it could cause great harm and possibly death. Blindness, deafness, loss of taste, odor loss, amnesia, brain death, and even more can be the result of using this technique as an inexperienced person. However if you master this technique, you can literally become a superman. All the senses would then go into full swing if you manage to strengthen them and if you use this technique to successfully reinforce your brain, your cognitive abilities will be greatly enhanced while your perception will hastened to the point where you can see things in slow motion while. However this technique should not be used over a longer period of time, such as in days or weeks, but over a short period of time, such as a few hours. Otherwise it could cause some damage. This technique was developed by humans after it was taught to them by Faunus Warriors. Another support technique which can be used by people with great control over their own Aura and are sensitive to Aura. This technique creates a second invisible shield of Aura which then spreads in all directions. Whoever passes through this invisible shield, will be immediately sensed by the user. The more Aura you have, the bigger the sensory shield can become. Mostly a sensory shield can be deployed up to a kilometer. The user can detect a being with Aura much faster than one without one because if they pass the sensory shield, this shield immediately responds to a foreign Aura. It was this technique that Richmond was currently in the middle of training. Granted the spheres didn't have Aura but that made the training that much better for him. By utilizing his hearing along with the Sensory Technique he was able to detect them in mid-flight and intercept. He continued this exercise until he heard Carina driving up on her hovercycle and pulled off his blindfold. "Head's up guys! Carina's back!" He called to his fellow students and caught the next sphere. "Take Five!" He hopped down from the poles and landed on his feet, flourished his sword and sheathed it. He laughed and ran his fingers through his dark hair. Richmond Jet Black was dressed in a black leather jacket worn over a white t-shirt. He had black leather pants. There were armored shoulderpads on the jacket and armored leather gloves with red palms. He wore a fancy belt and shoes. "I wonder if he's finally come back yet."

Gonegai Mountain"Come on Red, don't tell me you're time working for the stuffy Heroes Guild had gotten you soft" Carina teased while running backwards as she and The Traveler, whom we'll call Red for the duration of the story, raced up over ten thousand feet of stairs to reach the Jurai Dojo. Carina had parked her bike at the bottom of the mountain and assured Red that nobody would try to steal it. Otherwise they'd be in for quite a shock. "You've never beaten me since you were a kid Chisana and you won't now." Red flexed then decided to make this race interesting, they have another 10,000 ft before they reach the dojo so it'll be interesting to see how much Chisana's stamina has improved. Red decided to speed up and before the young woman knew it he shot right past her. She looked up in amazement, "Guess that training had paid off! I wasn't expecting that. But I wasn't expecting not to expect it so it doesn't count " She grinned, "You got yourself a race, Big Bro" With a dash she took off after him.

But I wasn't expecting not to expect it so it doesn't count " She grinned, "You got yourself a race, Big Bro" With a dash she took off after him. Consider it my thanks for sitting through that Kreese story I messaged you. Teenage Faunus Ninja Catgirl Oreo Koneko jumped up on a dojo roof and looked down at them. "I don't believe it..." Her cat ears twitched underneath her hoodie and she laughed. "HE'S BACK!" Her features were mostly hidden beneath her ninja gear. Her hoodie and facemask hid her face and head leaving only some of her dark hair and yellow eyes unveiled. She wore a belted black duster over a black shirt with the symbol of her family on it. Her black pants were similar in color to the rest, leaving very little of her revealed. Even her weapons were covered up. "Ha! Just try and keep up!" Red informed her and began dashing up the stairs using the aura step technique. "Oh please! You think I can't match that little parlor trick?" She challenged and did the same. The point of using this technique when running up the stairs was multi-faceted. First it got you used to performing the technique. Second, it built up stamina from using your aura to traverse the steps. Third, it let the student find out just how many aura steps they could perform before they drained themselves and the master could train them from there. In the case of these two it let them swiftly climb the stairs at an accelerated pace. They were both neck and neck with each other! Whenever Red would pull forward, Chisana would push herself forward to get in front of him only for him to easily push forward ahead of her!

Somewhere within the Dojo Sing was doing his Kata movements to loosen his joints before the training session starts again. Sing is a tall heavy set individual with fair skin and medium length black hair. Dressed in a Black Kimono with a white trim that has an insignia of a Dragon on the back that symbolizes the rank of Senpai for students who have graduated from the training. The other Senpai, Aryn is taking a moment of meditation before the training session can proceed. Note: Appearance wise I'm looking at Aerith from the Final Fantasy 7 remake as Aryn Sing's ears can sense Carina's presence, she mentioned that she was going to go into town on an errand so he expected her back by this point. He smiled when he sensed a familiar presence arriving with her. "Hey Aryn, Kenshin's back!" Sing turned to announce to Aryn but she's still in deep meditation. He approached the woman and crouched down, "Yo Aryn, do you read?" Sing tilts his head and did a mental dope slap (Right, when she's in this state nothing will distract her. Heh, we shall see when Ken gets here. Still, Sensei has taught her well) Note: Yeah I know what I've said but given appearance wise and backstory wise I can get away with calling him Kenshin

Most were around Carina's age while others are at their mid-teens or younger. He wouldn't show it but he was a little worried of what the folks back home would think of him when he failed to achieve what he desired to become. Even if that wasn't of his own doing, regardless what the Guild Masters would like to believe. But that is a subject that he'll share down the road, until then he's just glad that the ones he considered family never thought less of him. "Despite the surreal of the city it's nice that there are some things that remained the same" Carina pat Kenshin on the back, she glanced up at Richmond and Oreo, waving the two over.

Aryn Sun
Aryn had just finished her meditation and walked down the halls of the dojo with her mind being a ball of emotions. Sing was right, she can feel Kenshin's presence near and every part of her wants to run up to him like the rest of the younger students. She wanted to embrace him and never let go. But she's the Heir of The Jurai Dojo and member of the Sun Clan so she must set a better example. She hears the clamoring of the students running out to greet Ken, some of them were too young to fully know him but only knew Kenshin from the tales that either her or Sing would provide them. And the most popular one just so happens to be the time when he'd fight The Red Talon bandits. Sing walked with her as they make their way outside the dojo, the big guy stopped when he felt Aryn's hand covering his. "Lets give them a moment, not often they get to meet a legend in person" She winked at Sing who blushed in response then bowed, "Sure thing, Lady Sun"

"Lets give them a moment, not often they get to meet a legend in person" She winked at Sing who blushed in response then bowed, "Sure thing, Lady Sun" Richmond and Oreo nodded to each other and took a running leap off of the roof, flipped and landed on their feet and bowed to Kenshin. "Welcome back, Sir Ken!" They greeted. Richmond stood up and smiled. "Welcome back, sir. Do you recognize me?" He asked eagerly. "Richmond Jet Black. Of course I remember you. You were just a little kid when I left right?" He placed a hand on his shoulder. "You've certainly grown up a lot since then." He turned his attention to the Cat Faunus. "You too, little kitten, I'm happy to see that you've been dedicating yourself to your training just as hard as everyone else." Oreo purred as he rubbed her hooded head. "Well, you know, I have to represent after all. I want to provide a good example for all of the little Faunus boys and girls who want to become heroes in the future. So I've been working really hard." "We've been pushing each other incredibly hard everyday in order to keep our promise to you, Ken." Richmond added. "We told you we'd be strong enough to join you on missions and take on all comers and we meant it!" "They're telling the truth, Ken, we've been pushing ourselves to the extremes on a daily basis." Carina suddenly smirked as a grand idea occurred to her. "Would you like a demonstration? A three-on-one demonstration?" Aryn stifled her laughter. "He's not even back ten minutes and already they want to test him. Some things never change." "Should we step in?" Sing asked. "Hmmm, nah. Let them have their fun. This will be a good learning experience for them and we can judge how well he's grown since the old days. Besides, it's a simple sparring match. What's the harm?"

KarmaIt's a routine he'd normally take after every session, Karma would use his Aura to leap onto the roof of the dojo, when he's on the roof he'd lay on there and look up at the sky. Every now and then he'd sneak off and do this just to ensure that he wouldn't be followed. He'd prefer this measure of alone time. For him this is the perfect place for him to go and think. The rain had already stopped and the clouds are parting, he liked doing this on a clear day. It provides him inspiration to just look up and imagine that he'd venturing beyond the city. "Welcome back, Sir Ken!" His ears perked up and he rolled over to his stomach to look at the legendary Kenshin himself. He has heard the stories and it's those stories that inspired him to take up the art of sword play. His tales were what provided Karma fuel to polish his own sword craft and one day become as good of a fighter as he. One thing about Kenshin that he'd always wonder was the mystery behind his eyes. Is he truly the daemon that people claim? Like Karma would care if so, at least he'd be one of the few decent ones. He scoffed at 'Golden Boy' Richmond already sucking up to the older gentleman. With Oreo in tow. "Would you like a demonstration? A three-on-one demonstration?" Karma smirked at Carina's suggestion, the idea of seeing Richmond knocked on his butt would be too good to pass up. "This day has gotten less bothersome"

"This day has gotten less bothersome" Oreo overheard him and looked up to Karma. "If you're going to watch the show why not at least come down here and watch with everyone else?" Kenshin followed her line of sight and waved up at him. "Hey there Karma! Looking good! Did you do something different with your hair?" "Yeah he thinks it looks cool." Richmond joked. "Watch it, Richie." He called down after reading his lips. "I'm coming down!" Karma stood up and jumped down from the roof and skipped down the roof with a couple of jumps and then he dropped down to the ground and stuck the landing on his feet. He pushed his hair back while walking up to Ken. "Welcome back, Sir Ken." "Good to be back. You're looking good, kiddo." Kenshin assured him while patting on his shoulder. Despite himself Karma allowed a smile on his face. Carina enjoyed a potion drink to recharge her aura while Richmond and Oreo warmed up for the match. After recharging her aura she joined them in their warms ups and then the three of them spread out as Kenshin simply placed his hand on his sword hilt. "Everybody ready?" "Ready." Richmond replied while gripping his sword. "Ready." Carina replied as she did the same. Oreo thrust her hands out and a pair of wooden sheathes slid out of sleathes and she grabbed them, tossed them up and caught them again. "Ready." Kenshin looked down at the wooden weapons in her hands. At first glance they would be mistaken for tonfa but he knew better than that. Those were shirasaya's. The shirasaya sword has a unique history and is quite popular among collectors due to its sleek aesthetic. The word shirasaya translates to “white scabbard” and describes the clean design of the scabbard, rather than the blade. A traditional Japanese shirasaya can include katanas, wakizashis, and even tantos within its stylistic requirements. Shirasaya scabbards can be used to protect all types of blades, including yaris or spears. The main purpose of a shirasaya is to preserve the samurai sword blade when it is not being used. This type of scabbard is not meant to be used during combat because there is no tsuba (hand guard) or handle wrappings to ensure a strong grip. Most shirasaya designs are a simple wooden scabbard with an occasional sword appraisal (sayagaki) written on the outside. "Then lets begin. Show me what you've learned!"

KenshinThis brought him a great deal of nostalgia, he'd remember when he'd occasionally spar with both Leon and Sing: Ironically enough that would be around the time when Rana would challenge all three of them. Despite the odds he recalled how Rana held her own pretty well. As good of a fighter as Kenshin is Sensei Argona would usually consider Rana the more natural talent of her pupils. He took off his top and placed it on the ground, revealing the scars of battle in the process. Some of them had been pretty old while others are more recent. He does a series of warm up exercises before he could proceed. KarmaHe went to the far west and he leaned his back against the tree. It was far enough from the sparring session but he can still manage to see the event unfold. His body tensed the moment he noticed the scars. He hugged himself as he started to feel his chest tighten. He hugged himself tighter, 'Get ahold of yourself! You're not at that hellhole anymore. Just picture Richie get knocked on his ass' "Then lets begin. Show me what you've learned!" Kenshin's words provide him the comfort that he needed to calm himself. He relaxed and enjoyed the show.

Just picture Richie get knocked on his ass' "Then lets begin. Show me what you've learned!" Kenshin's words provide him the comfort that he needed to calm himself. He relaxed and enjoyed the show. This of course got the whole team's attention. "Gods above, what are those scars?" Oreo asked. "There is only so long one can fight a war alone before it catches up to them." Richie summarized. "Even with aura there's always a chance of something going wrong. We're still human after all." "Too true my friend. Come on then. Lets focus on the fight." Carina informed the team. "Delta!" She called out and she and Richmond ran towards him, crossed each other's paths and then they slashed at him from the left and right at the same time but Kenshin blocked it with his sword in his sheathe. The clashing of their weapons caused an air burst around them. Kenshin chuckled. "Well you've definitely grown I'll give you that." That was when the wooden sheathe's of Oreo's swords dropped off and she kicked them into the air and at Kenshin. He slashed upwards with the sheathe and pushed their blades back and then he deflected the wooden sheathes. Carina and Richmond recovered and resumed their attacks. Carina slashed high and Richmond slashed at his leg. Kenshin dodged her slash and then he jabbed down with his sword and blocked Richmond's sword and knocked him back. Richmond turned with the impact and he slashed at his back but Kenshin blocked him again and then he dodged Carina again and knocked her away with a kick in the stomach. As Carina was sent flying away he resumed parrying a few of Richmond's strikes and then he quickly dodged around him and he smacked him away with a strike to the back from his sheathed sword. As they were sent flying away he turned around and began blocking invisible sword slashes from Oreo before he hit her a few times across the face with his sheathed sword and then he grabbed her head. "I see you've been working on your Semblance but you still need to learn to hide your presence." "Understood." Her swords dropped to the ground as she turned visible again and then she suddenly grabbed his arm, leaned back as best she could and wrapped her legs around his arm to hold him in place. "Hey nice strategy. Except." He flexed his muscular arm and swung her around while leaning down and grinding her head against the ground before turning and throwing her off of him! As she was flying away however she reached into her duster and revealed a series of smoke bombs and threw them back at Kenshin. They exploded around him and enveloped him in smoke. "Good move." He complimented and leaped out of the smoke and up into the air. He caught the reflection of the sun reflecting off of a sword and looked up to see Richmond falling down towards him. He smiled and slashed downward with his sword but Kenshin blocked it with his sheathe and deflected his sword aside and drive his fist into Richmond before knocking him back down to the ground. Richmond flipped a few times in the air and threw his sword into the ground and then he put his fists together. Carina ran forward and leaped off of the sword and up into the air onto his fists and he flung her up into the air towards him. Carina used an aura step airburst from her foot to propel herself upward even more up to Kenshin's level. She smirked and slashed with her sword but he blocked it again. "Oh you kids are good." Richmond landed on the ground and retrieved his sword alongside Oreo and they waited for Kenshin to come back down to attack.
