Jaylnn and Gretchen. That's two members of the family to work with. If only she can find a way to analyze the rest. Behind her intrigued expression, as Gretchen explains the lore of The Corn God there is a part of her that made Jean grimace. If she wants this plan to work she'd have to work with Johnny because she cant do this alone.
Weighing in her options she asked herself who is worse? That's not a difficult question to answer. Also, no way she's leaving Johnny at the mercy of their father. Even she doesn't hate Johnny that much and he certainly doesn't deserve that.
There is part of her that felt guilty. Deceiving Jaylnn and Linda. She wonders if its too late to save them? No. No questions. No hesitations. No empathy. Never give the enemy an edge. Her grandfather taught her that. Find their weakness and use it to her advantage. Until then she'll play the role of the dutiful daughter and figure out how to get Johnny in on the plan.

Ay'll teach y'all thay uhh prayuurr ayn' ever'thing ayn' ay'll even let y'all slit his throat! We'll do it togithuurr. It'll be fun!" (Gretchen, if you weren't so completely out of your mind, your eagerness and happiness would be infections. (I know she's crazy but is she trolling me?! ) "Besides yer shert is all derty ayn' bloody. We ken't have ya gunna dinnuurr like that there! Ya need-ta get all preyttied up faw yer big kinfolk reunion! We all do. Ay mean Johnny does but Johnny cheats. Anyway put on yer dress ayn' get ready faw dinner, sister, ay'll be raheet outside. Knok on thay doaw when you done." She tossed her the dress and Jean caught it and Gretchen left her alone in her corn room of crazy. (Okaaaayyy so that settles that: She's crazy AND she's trolling me! Lovely!) Jean sighed and looked over the room. She would have to get dressed but this was a perfect chance to investigate The Corn Room to find something she could use. Either physically or psychologically. |
