Issue #0 The Phantom King The lights flicker dangerously throughout the warehouse, threatening to shut down at any moment, a few having already given up in their sockets, lying dead in the ceiling and only adding to the shadows that lurked all throughout the floor. The thud of footsteps entering the room echoed throughout the space, those that were waiting bracing themselves for the attack that was surely to come. “Sir.” One of the men muttered, his eyes trained on the shadows, at the figure that could not yet be discerned. “Sir, you should—” “I should what?” The man said, turning to his servant, his eyes narrowed. His eyes were black and emotionless as they stared at the man before him, black pits that swirled with malice and untold torture should anyone defy him. He was not a man to be messed with, he was the terror of Wolf-Crest, the Black Dragon. “I should run? Or perhaps should I turn my back? Phantom Knight is nothing more than a human man. A weak human man who will die in my hands.” “I would not be so sure about that.” A voice echoed through the halls, a figure finally revealing itself in the night. “You think yourself powerful and immortal, yet you, too, are nothing more than a man.” “I may be a man, but I am not weak.” The Black Dragon hissed, his eyes narrowing as he stood from his throne, leaving the safe cocoon his men had created around him, and approaching the one who called himself a hero before him. “You are weak.” He whispered, a smirk forming itself onto his features as he tilted his head, his eyes flashing with something King could not place. “And you will die weak.” The Black Dragon, Lord of The Criminal Underworld scoffed as he stared down his great and mortal enemy. He didn't need to call his foe out on it, he can sense the Phantom Knight's essence. There was a imbalance from within, a fact that his enemy is going to carry for the rest of his life. The Black Dragon also knows he's not getting out of this alive. Yet he's not going to make this easy for The Knight of Wolf-Crest. If he should die tonight then he may as well go out honorably. The Black Dragon readies himself and positions in a dragon fighting stance. "Lets put that theory to the test then" Was the final words spoken before the two engage in what the history books would record as the final battle.
Note: If this looks a little familiar then you may have seen it from the Urban Knights thread. Here's the thing concerning that. I've unfortunately ran into a creative wall So I felt the best solution would be to construct a different series. And given the plot synopsis I feel it actually fits where I should take this, narratively speaking.

THe villain who was killed was the father of our titular Dragon Knight and this story explores the city from his perspective while he navigates it while trying to move out from under the shadow of his father. This will contrast nicely with Noah's own story of becoming a hero and living a fairly normal life and especially Animality's life of trying to earn her freedom.

Agreed this is a really cool opening though. It makes The Black Dragon more of a badass and even gives more context to their final showdown and the potential resulting fallout that could result down the road. Plus, with him being named Black Dragon, it also gives more context to the identity of our MC!

Chapter I: Enter The Dragon Knight
Arthur Knight
Lance, Gai, and Myself took a subway that'll leads straight to the Ikanori District. We just left a Omega Combat Federation event and the three of us were still energized from the main event. "Woo, No Mercy!" Gai cheered, doing a series of shadow boxing, as he emulates his Idol. The OCF Heavyweight Champion, Skull Crusher.
Note: The OCF is what you'd get when you mix MMA with Pro Wrestling.
"Watch out, we could have ourselves a future champion in the mix" I comment while holding my hands up so my little bro uses my hands to practice his punches
We both sat on a bunch while Lance remains standing, holding one of the rails to keep himself balanced. He didn't respond to my comment but watches my interactions with Gai in amusement. Lance is whom you'd consider a man of few words, he'd communicate through body language or facial expressions.
He's the oldest of us, while there is no blood relation we have grown up together and watched each others backs. So I consider them siblings regardless of the fact that we aren't related by blood.

I like these guys already! Some nice brotherly interactions and even if they aren't all related they're very close together regardless. Judging from Lance's behavior, namely needing to keep himself balanced, was he in one of the fights? I could see Gai and Arthur definitely attending the match specifically to cheer on their bro.

"Oh man, just to be within the same organization as Skull Crusher would be Boss" Gai said, producing a series of one-two-combinations at my hands.
"No love for your older bro" Lance joked, reaching down to ruffle Gai's hair. Gai laughed then stopped his boxing to fix his hair. "You're awesome as usual. But, you know, pecking order and all that"
"Got a point there Lance" I laughed. Lance wasn't officially part of the organization but he did compete in an Presentation Match. An open invitation contest to any fighter who want to try out. If their performance manage to win the representatives over then the fighter will be expecting a phone call. Lance never does anything half-cocked so he got this in the bag.
"Way to lift a person up guys" Lance joked while clutching his chest, imitating the feel of an arrow that had pierced through it.

I looked up at the holographic screen, we only have about a few minutes till it reaches our destination. The next set of passengers board the train, one passenger in particular made me want to shift my position closer to Gai. He was the final one boarding the train. He's a tall individual with a shaved head and his body is covered in tattoos. What caught my eye is the expression on his face. Which reads that he is looking for trouble. He barged past one of the passengers who yelled. "Watch it!" The guy spun around and shoved the passenger. "Or what?!" he challenged. He spat on the floor and turned around. It was that moment I put a protective arm around Gai. I don't know what the dude is gunning for but no way in hell my little bro will be his target. I've noticed Lance had a similar idea, his eyes remained locked on the creep while he positions himself before the both of us.

Talent Agent Maekawa Mikazuki glanced at the commotion and smirked. Here she was pondering how best to test out the new guy and voila some street trash just happens to wonder onto the train for her. She fished out a pair of cool shades from her jacket and put them on. They began recording the scene. This was important not just for if the police got involved later but also as a fight recording. If Lance stepped up, and Maekawa was certain he would, she wanted to get the fight on video. What better proof of a new potential's talent than seeing them in action in real combat? Besides, if worse came to worse, her power would deal with him. Despite the commotion baldy was causing Gai couldn't help but notice how relaxed the sunglasses lady was. Not just in the minding her own business sense but she put on an air of being completely unconcerned with him. In fact it was almost like she was staring at them for whatever reason. But why could that be? Was it him and Arthur? Or was it Lance? It was hard to tell with the sunglasses on but it felt like she was definitely looking directly at Lance. Who was she? More importantly, what were they going to do about the douchebag? They were going to have to come up with something soon as he was stomping their way. Arthur and Lance stood their ground against him and Baldy stopped in front of them. "Hey you assholes, wipe those looks off your faces before I do it for you. Get out of your seat while you're at it and take that little bitch of yours with you."

Under normal circumstances, I'd let Lance handle this asshat on his own. Then the fool had to go and make the biggest mistake he could possibly achieve. It's one thing when someone insults or bother's me. I'd just brush it off. But to mess with Gai? Well. I hope the douchebag likes hospital food I look at Lance who strolled towards the thug. His expression went from laid back to stone cold in an instant. He stopped till he was inches away from the idiot, as if daring to repeat what he just said. I just chuckled and cracked my knuckles. "Well if it isn't Mr. Compensation. Swinging his large piece like he rules the whole room, am I right? From where I'm standing, that little excuse of a pistol you're carrying won't do shit" Even focused on the thug I can hear some of the passengers going Oh Snap and chuckling at the thugs expense. The Bald Idiot's face went red with anger. "Why.....you....." He brought his hand back to punch at Lance. He ducked it, causing the bald guy to stagger. He tries to take a swing at me but I side stepped and all he hit was the railing of the train. "DAMN!" "Can't back up that tough guy talk from earlier?" I mocked "FUCK YOU!" He proceeds to deliver a combination of punches. If the fool were any slower he'd have birds nesting on that chrome dome of his. I countered with a series of rapid punches to the stomach and the chest then a couple at his ribs, I'm confident I hear a couple of them breaking. "He's mine" I hear Lance behind me, I gave my big bro the floor and he lands one punch across the jaw. The thug spun and lands on the floor. "Eight, Nine, Ten, you're out" Gai declared at the unconscious dick.

She tucked the sunglasses back into her jacket and sat up to greet them. "Well done, gentlemen, well done. That was a fantastic performance!" The brothers paused in their celebration, Gai even paused in doodling on the thug's face, and he got a good look at the lady. She was dressed casually, with dark blue jeans, black shoes, a red shirt an Angel on it and a red leather jacket. She also had a baseball cap on with a hole in it for her long dark brown hair's ponytail. She looked like she might be in her 20's but who could tell these days with all of the augmentations going around? Regardless, she was beautiful. She looked like a damn supermodel who'd just walked out of a billboard! She battered her eyelashes and held out two cards for Arthur and Lance. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Maekawa Mikazuki and I am a Talent Scout for the OCF. I saw how you dealt with that idiot and let me just say that I saw the future in the two of you. You especially, Lance, put on a very good performance at the arena tonight and your actions just now have only further intrigued me. If you'll allow me, I would like to bring you both into the fold and get your feet in the door."

You ever had news that is so good that your mind would try and process it just to make sure if what you've heard isn't an illusion? While having a surprised yet speechless look on your face. Well that moment just left me for a split second. "Oh man I...I don't know what to say"
"I do! Consider it a done deal" Lance smiled and offered his hand to the lady.
I felt Gai poke at my side, I looked down at him.
"You're not dreaming Big Bro. This is real!"

She laughed, handed them the cards and shook their hands. "Wonderful! Now, Lance, I already have your contact information thanks to your work with us, but I will need yours Arthur. If you'd like we can continue our conversation at your place tonight and I can give you an idea of what you'll be up against. There will of course be medical examinations before we can sign off on your fighting but that's all just technicalities."

Within the confines of his suite a distinguished businessman viewed the footage of the fight that his field agent transferred to him to his holographic monitor. The eldest brother Lance had been on his radar the moment he viewed his fight in the invitational competition. His fighting style was different when compared to the usual crop underneath his employ so it's no surprise that he sent his best field agent to put Lance to the test. He didn't anticipate that his brother is quite the capable fighter himself. "Pause" The footage of the fight froze when the man recognize something in the video. He moved his hand slightly then focused the frame on Arthur. There was something about his features that seem familiar. "Just who are you?"

His ever loyal butler, Leigh Cearra Nance Nanette Austyn Blakesley, Leigh Blakesley for short, set down a cup of 1869 Chateau Lafite Rothschild for him and then turned to the television. Her eye implants scanned Arthur and began a search through data records. "Found him. His name is Arthur Knight. He lives with his brother at 38365 Summerticgo Street. His Zip Postal Code is 48075. He previously attended Mountainview Technical School where he completely revamped the Martial Arts Club. He utilizes the Black Tiger Fist which focuses on disabling his enemy by constantly hammering their most vitals while skillfully deflecting their attacks without wasting motion." She listed. "Is there anything else you would like to know?"

"Thank you, Mister King. It's all thanks to the cerebral and ocular implants that I am able to search the database on our various civilians so quickly." She admitted and took a seat. "Did he appear familiar to you?"
